DWR Launching Assistance Programs for Proposition 4 Funding

Approved by California voters in November 2024, Proposition 4 funds projects focused on safe drinking water, drought, flood, and water resilience, and DWR is launching new assistance programs that will prioritize:

  • Climate Adaptation - Investing now to help communities adapt to evolving environmental conditions and reduce vulnerabilities to future climate impacts.
  • Building Resilience - Strengthening natural and built infrastructure to better withstand climate extremes, including wildfire risks, droughts, and floods.
  • Disadvantaged & Vulnerable Communities - Ensuring equitable access to resources and funding, with a focus on vulnerable populations, including Native American Tribes and other frontline communities.

Below is a list of all upcoming public engagement opportunities over the next few months:

  • The Dam Safety and Climate Resilience program is accepting public comments on draft guidelines until 5:00 p.m. on June 11. The program also has two upcoming workshops:
    • Wednesday, May 27, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.: Program Overview. Register to attend.
    • Tuesday, June 2, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.Disadvantaged and Vulnerable Communities Tools. Register to attend.

       

  • The Water Desalination Grant Program will hold a pre-draft guideline webinar on June 22 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Register to attend.

     

  • The California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) is hosting two project overview workshops:
    • Friday, June 26, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Zoom registration to be provided.
    • Monday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Zoom registration to be provided.

We encourage water agencies, local governments, Tribes, and community organizations to participate and learn how their projects may qualify for funding.
