Notice of Availability for the 2023 Storm Damage Levee Rehabilitation Repair Site 23-078 Project
DWR has released a Draft Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for a 30-day public review.
The proposed project site is located on the landside of the Colusa Basin Drainage Canal levee (Levee Mile 15.47) less than one mile northwest of the intersection of White Road and the Colusa Basin Drainage Canal.
DWR proposes several maintenance repairs consisting of repair and rehabilitation to an approximately 400-foot landside segment of the Colusa Basin Drainage Canal levee, as well as use of a landside laydown/staging area for materials and equipment. The repair consists of clearing and grubbing existing vegetation at the repair site and laydown/staging area, excavating the existing landside levee soils currently exhibiting instability, filling the excavated area with earthfill, placing a layer of topsoil over the repair, and seeding with native erosion control seed mix.
The Draft IS/MND concludes that the project could have a significant effect on the environment, but with mitigation incorporated all impacts would be less than significant.
