Real Time Data and Forecasting

Our program is a collaborative effort, obtaining data from 46 sensors operated by DWR, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the San Luis Delta Mendota Water Authority.

We develop tools and resources to assist water managers in efficiently managing their water treatment operations. Continuous data collected throughout the Delta and the State Water Project (SWP) are summarized through:

A summary table of recent conditions for multiple stations including:

  • Flow/Pumping
  • Salinity (EC)
  • Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC)
  • Total Organic Carbon (DOC)
  • Turbidity (Barker Slough only)
  • Anions
  • Cations
  • Electricity Generation (Gianelli only)
  • Total Delta Outflow
Individual Station Summaries for various constituents:
  • TOC/DOC
  • Anions
  • Cations
  • Salinity
  • Turbidity
  • Fluorescence
  • Pumping/Flow
  • Multi-stations’ summaries that contain a single constituent plotted for multiple continuous stations

We provide our stakeholders modeling data and forecasts developed by our modeling partners in the DWR Bay-Delta Office and Operations Control Office through:

  • Observed and forecasted salinity at export and diversion locations
  • Fingerprints at multiple locations for:
    • Water volume
    • DOC
    • EC
  • Forecasted Stage (water level) at various locations
  • Forecasted EC at multiple locations

Short term and seasonal forecasts for salinity, bromide and DOC at select stations along the California Aqueduct and its principal branches are available upon request.
