Public Comment Period: Feather River Fish Monitoring Station Draft Initial Study and Proposed Mitigation Negative Declaration

Published:

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Division of Integrated Science and Engineering and State Water Project Ecosystem Improvement Branch announces a 30-day public comment period for the Feather River Fish Monitoring Station (Project) Draft Initial Study and Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration. The Project will install a resistance board weir, upstream passage complex, a PIT tag antenna array, and the solar power system on the Lower Feather River to provide information on run-timing, origin (hatchery or natural), and abundance of steelhead and Chinook salmon. Once constructed, the fish monitoring station will be used to answer basic life-history and abundance questions that will contribute to improved management of these species.

DWR is providing a Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) and Notice of Availability of the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Feather River Fish Monitoring Station. The Draft Initial Study (IS) and Proposed MND have been released for a 30-day public review beginning Friday, July 1, 2022 and ending on August 1, 2022. Written comments regarding the Draft IS and Proposed MND should be submitted to Erica Hironaka, California Department of Water Resources, Division of Integrated Science and Engineering, 3500 Industrial Blvd., 2nd Floor, West Sacramento, CA 95691 or via email at Erica.Hironaka@water.ca.gov. Comments are due no later than 5 p.m. local time on August 1, 2022.
