15-Day Comment Period Opens for Draft List of Awards for Delta Emergency Response Grants

The California Department of Water Resources is pleased to announce a 15-day public comment period for the Delta Flood Emergency Response Grant Program (Directed Funding) draft list of awards. In July 2019, $4.9 million of Proposition 1E and $5 million of Proposition 1 funding was made available for Directed Funding action under the grant program’s Round 2 guidelines. After careful review and coordination with potential grant recipients, DWR is proposing to provide funding for two grants as detailed in the draft list of awards. 

The Delta Flood Emergency Response Grant Program supports the activities of local agencies who are working with DWR and its partners to improve flood emergency preparedness and response within their jurisdictions.

Eligible agencies included the five Delta counties (Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Yolo), local maintaining agencies, and public agencies in the legal Delta whose primary responsibility is flood emergency response and coordination.

Proposed awards

  • Sacramento County OES award for $9,590,037. This award will amend the existing Sacramento County OES agreement from a total of $743,871 to $10,333,908. Sacramento County OES will be the lead agency representing and coordinating with Delta counties (Yolo, Solano, Contra Costa, and San Joaquin) and reclamation districts. This funding will help agencies provide training and hold exercises, develop a decision support tool, and procure regional flood fight material and equipment.
  • Reclamation District 3 (RD3) award for $310,000. This award will execute a new agreement. RD3 will be the lead agency representing eight Delta reclamation districts (RDs). This funding will help the RDs update of flood emergency plans, provide training, and hold exercises.
