Delivery Capability Report and Studies
The California Department of Water
Resources released the draft State Water Project Delivery Capability Report for
2023 that presents a new and enhanced analysis of current and future
expectations for the State Water Project water supply. The report is a key tool
for water managers, including groundwater sustainability agencies, to help plan
and manage future water supply and plan for climate resilience projects. The
State Water Project is developing key adaptation strategies, like the Delta
Conveyance Project and Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations, to ensure the
water needs of California are met in the face of a changing climate and
uncertainties in future regulations. If appropriate action is not taken to
modernize the infrastructure and fund climate initiatives, the report signals
substantial reduction in State Water Project delivery capability and
reliability. Final report to be released this summer.
