California County Café Series – May 13, 2026
The Department of Water Resources (DWR), in partnership with California State Association of Counties (CSAC), is convening a series of virtual roundtable-style gatherings for county staff who are responsible for the planning and implementation of SB 552 of 2021 (Hertzberg).
This series is scheduled in response to feedback DWR received from counties in 2023 at the end of the collaborative development of the County Drought Resilience Planning Guidebook, where counties emphasized the benefits and values of sharing information and practices. The purpose of the California County Café (C3) series is to:
- Provide timely, actionable information on drought conditions, funding, and state and partner efforts
- Support implementation of County Drought Resilience Plans by sharing practical resources and approaches
- Strengthen coordination and maintain a connected network across counties, state agencies, and partners to respond to emerging issues and evolving county needs
The C3 series is open to County staff and managers responsible for SB 552 implementation and ongoing drought resilience efforts. Elected officials, regulatory agencies, and interested parties are welcome to tune in.
This month’s gathering will introduce an updated format for the C3 series, with a stronger focus on timely information sharing and implementation support. The session will include a hydro-climate conditions update from Jeanine Jones, Interstate Resources Manager at DWR, along with brief updates on funding and resources, relevant state and partner efforts, and policy updates from CSAC. This updated format is intended to help counties receive timely information from DWR, CSAC, and partners, while also creating space for counties to share updates, questions, and lessons with one another. DWR and CSAC will also invite participant feedback on the new format to help shape future gatherings.
