Meeting of the Drought Resilience Interagency & Partners (DRIP) Collaborative September - 3, 2024

Join the Department of Water Resources for the Drought Resilience Interagency & Partners (DRIP) Collaborative for a joint workgroup meeting, bringing together the Drought-Relevant Data and Drought Definition and Narrative workgroups.

This joint workgroup meeting will focus on five previously identified recommendations:

  • Rapid Inventory of Drought Related Tools and Resources (REC 2)
  • Drought Case Studies (REC 8) and Drought Definitions White Paper (REC 6)
  • Drought Indicators and Metrics (REC 1) and Communication Program (REC 7) Validate title and recommendation description

The desired meeting outcome is to agree on the approach and narrative needed to finalize the recommendations using the Recommendations Template Parts I (description and impacts) and II (implementation considerations).

Background
The Department of Water Resources established a standing drought and water shortage interagency task force in coordination with the State Water Board and other relevant state agencies to facilitate proactive state planning and coordination for pre-drought planning, emergency response, and post-drought management, consistent with Senate Bill 552 (Chaptered in 2021). The Task Force, called the Drought Resilience Interagency and Partners Collaborative (DRIP Collaborative), will serve as a public forum with state and non-state agency members to advance our drought strategies and continue building resilience to the increasingly arid conditions California faces.
