County Drought Advisory Group Meeting - December 13, 2018

Lake Success near Porterville, California

Lake Success near Porterville, California. Storage reported at 7% capacity or 19% of average capacity on July 28, 2015.

To improve water conservation and water shortage planning, the California Legislature passed Senate Bill 606 (Hertzberg) and Assembly Bill 1668 (Friedman) which Governor Brown signed into law in May of 2018. Changes to existing law related to small water systems and rural community drought planning resulting from this legislation are in Section 8, Chapter 10 (commencing with Section 10609.40) and added to Part 2.55 of Division 6 of the California Water Code. Those include directing DWR to (1) identify small suppliers and rural communities at risk of drought and water shortage vulnerability and (2) develop recommendations to the Governor and Legislature for improving drought contingency planning for those areas.

The first County Drought Advisory Group (CDAG) meeting will be held on December 13, 2018 from 1-5pm at the CSUS Downtown School of Public Affairs located at 304 S Street, Sacramento, CA 95811 (please see parking information). The purpose of the first CDAG meeting is to convene the group and to gather input about the factors that make small water systems and rural communities vulnerable and at risk of water shortage.

In-person participation is encouraged to enable small group discussions. For those unable to attend the meeting in person, a call-in option is provided:
