To encourage alternate means of transportation, DWR subsidizes the cost of transit passes and tickets for commuting to and from work for DWR employees. Transit passes, and Connect Cards are subsidized monthly based on your collective bargaining unit contract.
Connect Card is the Sacramento region’s electronic transit pass system. To take part in the subsidy program the first step is to complete the DWR 4216a -Commuter Subsidy and Connect Card Enrollment. You can either send your signed and completed DWR 4216a to Commuter@water.ca.gov or return it to the Employee Transportation Coordinator in the Natural Resources Headquarters on the 7th floor.
- Once the DWR 4216a is processed you will be issued your Connect Card that can be picked up in person at the Natural Resources Headquarters 7th floor. Instructions on how to fully activate your Connect Card will be sent to you, along with a notice letting you know your card is ready. - Participating agencies for the Connect Card include e-tran, El Dorado Transit, Folsom Stage Line, Placer County Transit, Roseville Transit, South County Transit Link, Yolobus, and Yuba-Sutter Transit.
- Employees who want to purchase a transit pass by a method other than the Connect Card, purchase your Transit Pass from any of the Local Transit Agencies for full price and submit a CalATERS Expense Reimbursement claim to recover your subsidized costs, via the California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS). Refer to the DWR Commuter Manual for CalATERS for additional information.
