Grantee: Amigos de los Rios
Project: Peck Road Water Conservation Park Urban Greening
EEM Funded Project Cost: $400,000.00

Amigos de los Rios green infrastructure and urban forestry project at Peck Road Water Conservation Park is an integral part of the Emerald Necklace Greenway network.

Completed in 2020, the project included planting 400 native trees and 3,200 shrubs to restore habitat, improve regional air quality, protect water resources, reduce greenhouse gases, mitigate negative impacts of urban heat islands, and increase access to nature and regional trails adjacent to schools and residential communities in eastern Los Angeles County.

The Related Transportation Facility (RTF) affiliated with the grant was the I-10/605 Direct Connector Project, which included construction of an elevated bridge connecting southbound I-605 to eastbound I-10. Greening benefits achieved through the grant project provided enhanced mitigation to address many of the adverse environmental impacts of the RTF that affected adjacent disadvantaged communities.
