The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) has drafted regulations to formalize a petition process to rename offensive and derogatory geographic features and place names within California. The proposed petition process would mimic the process outlined in Assembly Bill 2022 (Ramos 2022) and provide a process to consider and rename other offensive and derogatory geographic features and place names as directed by the Bill.

The draft regulations, consultation and outreach periods, and additional information regarding the timeline for the proposed regulations will be posted on this page.
